Information Control

“Information control” is the umbrella concern behind every deployment decision on this page: data residency, system connectivity, processing location, access control, auditability, customer-owned inputs and outputs, no unnecessary retention, human review, and governance compatibility. It’s broader than “evidential integrity” alone — it’s the fear commanders, IT and security stakeholders actually feel about where their data goes.

Deployment Options

Single local workstation

For a small office, VST can run on one suitable NVIDIA workstation on your own premises — no server room, no enterprise infrastructure. Media, transcripts and outputs stay on the machine you control. This is the pattern used by small legal practices reviewing criminal defense video evidence; we can confirm whether existing hardware is suitable or supply a tested specification.

On-premise

Deploy within your own infrastructure. Full control over hardware, network, and data residency. Fully containerised — if your environment can run containers, it can run Rigr AI systems, with no proprietary infrastructure required.

Air-gapped

Operate with no external connectivity. Suitable for the most sensitive environments and classified networks. No data is sent externally in this mode — all processing occurs within your controlled environment.

Private sovereign AI

A private deployment pattern for organisations that need sovereign data handling and governed AI operation, without depending on shared or third-party infrastructure.

Secure private cloud

Deploy into your customer-controlled cloud environment where policy permits. Data and processing remain within your environment, under your control.

Government cloud

Suitable for agencies with approved gov-cloud architectures and procurement constraints.

Deployment for operational teams

VST is often stood up inside an operational unit rather than managed day to day by a central IT team. Routine installation and operation are designed for the unit’s nominated technical officer — usually the most computer-literate member of the team, not a Linux or Docker specialist — and normal investigative work needs no terminal, no container commands, and no knowledge of what runs underneath.

You are never installing alone. A Rigr engineer works alongside your technical officer through the whole process — walking through each step, connecting by remote session where it helps, and confirming everything is running before you rely on it. We supply the application components and model access, validate the installation, and provide the controls to start, stop and update VST without working with containers directly. Full container, network and security documentation remains available for IT and infrastructure reviewers who want it.

A typical deployment:

  1. Rigr validates the hardware — we confirm a workstation or server meets requirements, or supply a tested specification.
  2. The technical officer follows a guided installation, with a Rigr engineer alongside — step by step in plain language, on a call or remote session where it helps, with no assumed Linux knowledge and nobody left to work it out alone.
  3. VST runs as a managed service — operated through simple start, stop and update controls rather than container commands.
  4. Investigators open VST from the desktop or a browser — and get on with the work. They never see a container.
